How to Master English Words? This is the easiest tips!

1. Determine your present level of vocabulary. This is something you can do by taking few Vocabulary tests which are available through a few websites. By taking these tests, you will come to know your strengths and weaknesses in your present level of vocabulary.
   
   
   
2. Read a dictionary. A dictionary is a good source of learning and mastering English words.
   
   
   
    
3. Buy a few books to help your studies. Go to any good library or bookstore and find a knowledgeable staff person. This person will be able to listen to you speaking, and help determine the books that will help most.
   
   
   
    
4. Begin at your present level. If your level of vocabulary level is high, start at the highest level where you recognize and understand every word put before you.
   
   
   
    
5. Prepare a study schedule. Follow your schedule, even if it is only for 30 minutes per week, once a week. It's better if you can spend 10 minutes per day - daily usage and practice will help fastest.
   
   
   
    
6. Subscribe to a website which sends A Word A Day to your Inbox. One such site is through Merriam-Webster, the dictionary company. You can find many others, as well.
   
   
   
    
7. Say each word as you read it. This is very important. Make sure your pronunciation is correct. There's nothing more embarrassing than trying to impress people with your newfound language skills, only to find out that the word you were going for was pronounced "Fa-SEE-Shus," not "Fa-KET-EE-uss." (That's "facetious," by the way.) Pronouncing the words out loud will help them form naturally when you speak them in front of others. It is especially important for non-native speakers to do this as English pronunciation of vowels and consonants often differs from your native language.
   
   
   
    
8. Write down the definition, and then a few sentences using those words. This will help them stick in your head, along with the meaning as you write them down. Read your sentences aloud, making sure to pronounce carefully. There is a little muscle memory at play here - forming the words correctly the first few times will ensure that you always form them this same way. If you start saying a word wrong, it's really hard to get your brain around the correct way later.
   
   
   
    
9. Repeat the new words each day, adding one new word every day. As you feel sure you will not forget word #1, drop it from the list, and continue.
10. The best way to master words is to learn them through etymology and mnemonics.Learn a root so that you can learn many other words basing on that root.

Belajar bahasa Inggris memerlukan keseriusan lho, namun kalo dibikin fun, maka akan sangat menyenangkan. Berikut ini tips-tips buat kamu yah. Semoga bermanfaat. 

Belajarlah Setiap Hari Cobalah untuk mengelokasikan beberapa saat setiap hari untuk pelajaran anda, idealnya saat otak anda sedang bisa menerima dengan baik. Ingatlah, lebih baik belajar 30 menit per hari dibandingkan 3 jam per minggu. Jika anda dapat menyediakan waktu sejam per hari, cobalah untuk membaginya menjadi 2 atau 3 sesi. 

Review Secara Teratur ulangilah setiap pelajaran beberapa kali, misalnya sekali di pagi, sekali saat sore dan sekali lagi beberapa hari kemudian. Berikan waktu bagi otak anda untuk mencerna materi, tetapi yakinkan bahwa jarak antara masing-masing pelajaran tidak terlalu lama, misalnya lebih dari beberapa minggu. Jika tidak anda mungkin akan melupakan apa yang sedang anda pelajari. Pastikan bahwa anda sudah memeahami isi pelajaran yang ada sebelum melanjutkan ke pelajaran berikutnya.

Fokus Pada Hal yang Menarik Begitu anda sudah memahami dasar-dasar sebuah bahasa, segeralah praktekkan baik membaca/menulis/bicara mengenai hal yang menarik bagi anda. Dengan cara ini, anda akan lebih mudah memngingat kata-kata, frase dan gramatikal. 

Lupa Bawa Kamus? Pake MS-Word aja.. Buat kamu-kamu yang baru belajar bahasa Inggris ataupun udah pinter mungkin pernah ngalamin bingung alias gak ngerti arti sebuah kata dalam bahasa inggris kan? Pasti. Nah biasanya kita pake kamus untuk mencari artinya. Gimana kalo lagi gak ada kamus? Dalam tips ini kamu bisa memperoleh cara mencari arti kata dalam bahasa Inggris menggunakan pengolah kata yang sering kamu pake…. MS-Word!! Gimana caranya? Gampang. 

Pertama ketikkan kata yang mau kamu ketahui artinya di sebuah dokumen MS-Word, boleh buka baru ataupun yang udah ada tulisannya. Setelah kamu yakin spelling alias tulisannya bener, di blok aja tuh kata yang kamu belum ngerti artinya tadi. Setelah itu klik tools dan pilih menu thesaurus. Kamu akan bisa melihat penjelasan dari arti kata tersebut beserta padanannya. Tentu saja dalam bahasa Inggris juga, tetapi kamu biasanya udah bisa nangkep artinya kok. 

Oh iya, kamu juga bisa pake short cut Shift+F7 setelah proses blok untuk mendapatkan hasil yang sama. Tips ini sangat berguna saat kamu belajar bahasa Inggris dan disuruh menerjemahkan sebuah artikel. Udah, ketik aja pake MS-Word dan cari artinya menggunakan thesaurusnya. Gampang kan? Semoga bermanfaat. 

Senang Musik ? Manfaatin buat belajar bahasa inggris. Senang ngedengerin musik? Ikutan Indonesian Idol tapi belum berhasil masuk? Nah daripada stress, pakai aja tuh hobi buat belajar bahasa Inggris. Mau tau caranya? Baca terus yah…. Kamu percaya gak kalau dibilang bahwa susahnya mempelajari sesuatu itu terjadi karena kita ndak suka sama yang kita pelajari.

Nah, sebenarnya memang bisa dikatakan demikian. bayangin aja kayak gini, kalau kamu tidak menyukai sesuatu biasanya kamu males untuk mengenal lebih jauh, males meluangkan waktu, ketemu masalah sedikit langsung putus asa dan bilang “Ahhh, susah nih”. Lain halnya kalau kamu menyukai sesuatu, apapun yang terjadi kamu pasti akan berusaha mati-matian untuk memahaminya.

Contohnya kalau kamu seneng sama seseorang, pasti kamu akan berusaha mendapat informasi tentang dia no matter how hard kan? Nah, itu artinya kamu sedang mempelajari tentang orang yang kamu senengin itu. Jadi, kesimpulannya, kalau kamu suka, yang susah terasa mudah dan juga sebaliknya. Lha, terus apa hubungannya sama nyanyi? 

Gini… Kalau kamu seneng nyanyi tapi gak terlalu berminat sama bahasa Inggris, coba deh kamu mulai mencari lagu-lagu yang berbahasa Inggris. Tentu saja cari yang lagunya enak dan penyanyinya kamu sukai baik karena suaranya maupun tampangnya. Logikanya, kalau kamu seneng ama lagu itu, kamu akan berusaha untuk mengerti arti lagu itu kan? Nah, secara tidak langsung kamu sudah menyenangi bahasa Inggris lantaran lagu itu. Gampang kan…

Sekarang saya akan menyampaikan beberapa tips yang semoga bisa bermanfaat buat kamu dalam mempelajari bahasa Inggris lewat lagu:

1. Pilih lagu yang kamu sukai dan tentu saja penyanyinya juga lah.

2. Pilih lagu yang slow aja. Kenapa? Karena biasanya lagu slow lebih mudah ditangkep kata-katanya, cari juga lagu yang gak terlalu keras musik pengiringnya.

3. Cari teksnya, tetapi terlebih dahulu coba kamu dengerin dan tebak lirik lagunya, ini akan melatih logika bahasa dan listening kamu secara otomatis. Setelah kamu coba bikin lirik kamu coba cocokin sama lirik lagu yang sudah kamu peroleh. Cocok? Bagus. Kamu bisa cari lirik lagu di internet, caranya: googling aja pake keyword “lyrics “.

 4. Coba ikut menyanyikan semirip mungkin dengan penyanyinya, hal ini akan melatih pronounciation kamu.

 5. Kalau nemu kata-kata yang kamu gak ngerti, langsung cari di kamus, dan pake sesering mungkin dalam praktek ngomong. Biasanya lirik lagu diambil dari kata-kata yang sering dipakai, jadi kamu mestinya bisa mencoba mempraktekkannya sehari-hari. Kalau kamu ndak ada kesempatan praktek, coba aja buat kalimat sendiri dalam hati kamu. Hal ini akan membantu kamu dalam mengingat kata-kata baru tersebut lho. Nah dari sini, mustinya vocab kamu makin baik.

6.Terakhir, usahain jangan beli bajakan, biar kualitas suaranya bagus dan gak bikin kuping sakit. Ok, gitu aja dulu. Jangan lupa praktekin yach, dan hope you can improve your English^^

5 rules in learning English speaking

(5 aturan dalam belajar ngomong Bahasa Inggris)

 

1. Don't study grammar too much

This rule might sound strange to many ESL students, but it is one of the most important rules. If you want to pass examinations, then study grammar. However, if you want to become fluent in English, then you should try to learn English without studying the grammar.

Studying grammar will only slow you down and confuse you. You will think about the rules when creating sentences instead of naturally saying a sentence like a native. Remember that only a small fraction of English speakers know more than 20% of all the grammar rules. Many ESL students know more grammar than native speakers. I can confidently say this with experience. I am a native English speaker, majored in English Literature, and have been teaching English for more than 10 years. However, many of my students know more details about English grammar than I do. I can easily look up the definition and apply it, but I don't know it off the top of my head.

I often ask my native English friends some grammar questions, and only a few of them know the correct answer. However, they are fluent in English and can read, speak, listen, and communicate effectively.

Do you want to be able to recite the definition of a causative verb, or do you want to be able to speak English fluently?

2. Learn and study phrases

Many students learn vocabulary and try to put many words together to create a proper sentence. It amazes me how many words some of my students know, but they cannot create a proper sentence. The reason is because they didn't study phrases. When children learn a language, they learn both words and phrases together. Likewise, you need to study and learn phrases.

If you know 1000 words, you might not be able to say one correct sentence. But if you know 1 phrase, you can make hundreds of correct sentences. If you know 100 phrases, you will be surprised at how many correct sentences you will be able to say. Finally, when you know only a 1000 phrases, you will be almost a fluent English speaker.

The English Speaking basic section is a great example of making numerous sentences with a single phrase. So don't spend hours and hours learning many different words. Use that time to study phrases instead and you will be closer to English fluency.

Don't translate

When you want to create an English sentence, do not translate the words from your Mother tongue. The order of words is probably completely different and you will be both slow and incorrect by doing this. Instead, learn phrases and sentences so you don't have to think about the words you are saying. It should be automatic.

Another problem with translating is that you will be trying to incorporate grammar rules that you have learned. Translating and thinking about the grammar to create English sentences is incorrect and should be avoided.

3. Reading and Listening is NOT enough. Practice Speaking what you hear!

Reading, listening, and speaking are the most important aspects of any language. The same is true for English. However, speaking is the only requirement to be fluent. It is normal for babies and children to learn speaking first, become fluent, then start reading, then writing. So the natural order is listening, speaking, reading, then writing.

First Problem
Isn't it strange that schools across the world teach reading first, then writing, then listening, and finally speaking? Second Problem
The reason many people can read and listen is because that's all they practice. But in order to speak English fluently, you need to practice speaking. Don't stop at the listening portion, and when you study, don't just listen. Speak out loud the material you are listening to and practice what you hear. Practice speaking out loud until your mouth and brain can do it without any effort. By doing so, you will be able to speak English fluently.

4. Submerge yourself

Being able to speak a language is not related to how smart you are. Anyone can learn how to speak any language. This is a proven fact by everyone in the world. Everyone can speak at least one language. Whether you are intelligent, or lacking some brain power, you are able to speak one language.

This was achieved by being around that language at all times. In your country, you hear and speak your language constantly. You will notice that many people who are good English speakers are the ones who studied in an English speaking school. They can speak English not because they went to an English speaking school, but because they had an environment where they can be around English speaking people constantly.

There are also some people who study abroad and learn very little. That is because they went to an English speaking school, but found friends from their own country and didn't practice English.

You don't have to go anywhere to become a fluent English speaker. You only need to surround yourself with English. You can do this by making rules with your existing friends that you will only speak English. You can also carry around an iPod and constantly listen to English sentences. As you can see, you can achieve results by changing what your surroundings are. Submerge yourself in English and you will learn several times faster.

5. Study correct material

A common phrase that is incorrect is, "Practice makes perfect." This is far from the truth. Practice only makes what you are practicing permanent. If you practice the incorrect sentence, you will have perfected saying the sentence incorrectly. Therefore, it is important that you study material that is commonly used by most people.

Another problem I see is that many students study the news. However, the language they speak is more formal and the content they use is more political and not used in regular life. It is important to understand what they are saying, but this is more of an advanced lesson that should be studied after learning the fundamental basics of English.

Studying English with a friend who is not a native English speaker is both good and bad. You should be aware of the pros and cons of speaking with a non native speaking friend. Practicing with a non native person will give you practice. You can also motivate each other and point out basic mistakes. But you might pick up bad habits from one another if you are not sure about what are correct and incorrect sentences. So use these practice times as a time period to practice the correct material you studied. Not to learn how to say a sentence.

In short, study English material that you can trust, that is commonly used, and that is correct.

Ask yourself weekly: What do I want to learn this week?
Asking yourself this question every week will help you stop and think for a moment about what is most important to you. It is easy to focus only on the current unit, grammar exercise, etc. If you take a moment to stop and set a goal for yourself every week, you will notice the progress you are making and, in turn, become more inspired by how quickly you are learning English! You will be surprised at how this feeling of success will motivate you to learn even more English

Quickly review important new information shortly before going to bed.
Research has shown that our brains process information that is fresh in our brains while we sleep. By shortly (this means very quickly - just a glance at what you are working on at the moment) going over some exercise, reading, etc. before you go to sleep, your brain will work away on this information while you sleep!

While doing exercises and alone at home or in your room, speak English aloud.
Connect the muscles of your face to the information in your head. Just as understanding the basics of tennis does not make you a great tennis player, understanding grammar rules does not mean you can automatically speak English well. You need to practice the act of speaking often. Speaking by yourself at home and reading the exercises you are doing will help connect your brain to your facial muscles and improve pronunciation and make your knowledge active.

Do five to ten minutes of listening at least four times a week.
Learning to understand spoken English well is very similar. If you decide that you going to work hard and listen for two hours, chances are that you will not do extra listening exercises any time soon. If, on the other hand, you start off slowly and listen often, it will be easier to develop the habit of listening to English on a regular basis.

Look for situations in which you must speak / read / listen to English
This is probably the most important tip. You need to use English in a "real world" situation. Learning English in a classroom is important, but putting your English knowledge into practice in real situations will improve your fluency in speaking English. If you do not know of any "real life" situation, create new ones for yourself by using the Internet to listen to news, write English responses in forums, exchange emails in English with email pals, etc.

10 Tips to learn English quickly

1. Listen to English music. Even listening to music while doing something else can help a little for things like getting used to the natural rhythm and tone of English speech, although the more time and attention you give to a song the more you will learn from listening to it again in the future.

2.  Read a translation into English. Another way of making sure books are easier to understand is to choose a book that was originally translated into English, preferably from your own language. Even if you haven't read the book in your own language, you will find the English is written in a slightly simplified way that is more similar to how your own language is written than a book originally written in English would be.

3. Read a book with lots of dialogue. Opening up books before you buy one and flicking through them to find one with lots of direct dialogue in it has several advantages. If there is less text on the page due to all the speech marks etc, this can make it easier to read and easier to write translations on. Dialogue is also much easier to understand than descriptive parts of a book, and is much more like the language you will want to learn in order to be able to speak English.

4. Ask your company to start English lessons. Even if you don't need to speak English at work, English lessons can be a fun and reasonably priced way for your company to spend their training budget in a popular way.

5. Watch English language films with English subtitles. For people who can't understand a film without subtitles but find themselves not listening at all when reading subtitles in their own language, this should be the way of watching a film that you should aim for. If it is too difficult to watch the whole film this way, try watching the (usually important) first 10 or 15 minutes of the film with subtitles in your own language, switch to English subtitles after that, and only switch back to subtitles in your own language if you get totally lost following the story of the film.

6. Read the whole thing with no help. Although using a dictionary has been shown to help with both short term and long term learning of vocabulary, the fact that using it slows reading down can stop some people reading in English at all. Reading a whole book quickly through just for pleasure from time to time will help you remember how fun reading in another language can be.

7. Keep a list of language to learn, e.g. a vocab list. Even if you don't often find time to go though your vocab list and it keeps on building up, just the act of choosing which words you need to learn and writing them down on a special list can help you learn them.

8. Online chat. The closest thing to speaking for people who don't have the chance to speak English is online chat, as you have to think and respond quickly, and the language is short and informal just like speech.

9. Record your own voice. For people who don't have much or any correction of pronunciation from a teacher, recording yourself and listening back makes it easier to hear whether you are really making the English sounds that you are trying to or not.
